Update: Sam has received Venmo payments from over 2,000 people since his sign went up. That'll buy a lot of beer.

Original Story: ESPN's "College GameDay" is in Bristol, Tennessee, for Tennessee vs. Virginia Tech at Bristol Motor Speedway, and as always the masses have brought signs to hold up behind the set.
The usual signs are there, with some making fun of Butch Jones or Tennessee's struggles with Appalachian State, but one innovator is using his sign to get paid. Someone put up a sign saying "Hi Mom! Send beer money" and attached his Venmo account name.
And within 40 minutes of the sign going up had gotten 300 random strangers to transfer him money.
This is absurd. Genius. pic.twitter.com/GpShMSqIFa

This is a new level of innovation for "GameDay" signs, that, frankly, I'm shocked no one's ever tried before. This guy has exploited a market inefficiency, people's willingness to pay you because they found something clever or funny.
Well played, sir. Well played.
