Span is not in the lineup Monday against the Rangers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Span will head to the bench for Monday's series opener with left-hander Martin Perez slated to start for the Rangers. Guillermo Heredia will pick up a start in left field and hit ninth in his stead.
