Gore rejected an outright assignment to Triple-A Syracuse and elected free agency Thursday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Gore joined the Mets on a minor-league deal in June and joined the big-league club at the end of August. He saw regular-season action in the majors for the first time since 2019 and went 1-for-7 with a run scored and three stolen bases in 10 games.
