Nordstrom (illness) will suit up for Sunday's game against the Flames, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports. Nordstrom will look to snap a 25-game pointless streak Sunday, as he missed just one game with this sickness. He's been logging just 11:09 of ice time during his slump, while firing just 26 shots on goal in that span.
Nordstrom (illness) will not play Friday against the Capitals, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Coach Bill Peters indicated earlier in the day that a couple of players were dealing with an illness and it appears Nordstrom is one of them. His next opportunity to take the ice arrives Sunday against the Flames, while Phil Di Giuseppe and Josh Jooris will draw into Friday's contest.
Nordstrom closed out 2017 riding a 20-game point drought. He has just two goals and two assists in 38 games. At this point, Nordstrom would need a massive turnaround in the second half of the season to come anywhere near the career-high 24 points he recorded with the Canes two years ago. Needless to say, we don't see it happening. He does not deserve to be on anyone's fantasy roster at this point.
Nordstrom didn't record a point for the seventh straight game Saturday against Florida. Now with just four points and a minus-6 rating in 25 games this season, Nordstrom's fantasy appeal remains minimal. He continues to average just 11 minutes of ice time on the fourth line, so he is best left alone in the majority of fantasy formats.
Nordstrom skated a season-low 8:42 in Saturday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Coyotes, failing to crack the scoresheet for the fourth consecutive game. The 25-year-old Swede now has just two points in 12 games this season, putting him on pace for another abysmal point total similar to last year (12 points in 82 games). Skating fewer than 10 minutes per game on the Canes' fourth line, Nordstrom should not be on anyone's fantasy radar right now.
