Jeff Glass: Released from tryout
The Flames released Glass from his professional tryout offer Wednesday, Aaron Vickers of NHL.com reports.
Glass evidently wasn't impressive enough to supplant Jon Gillies as Mike Smith's backup during his tryout, so he'll now hope to catch on with another NHL club. If he's unable to do so, it wouldn't be surprising to see him sign an AHL-only deal.

Flames' Jeff Glass: Gives up overtime winner
Glass allowed two goals on 11 shots over about 20 minutes during a 4-3 overtime loss to the Jets on Friday.
The 32-year-old yielded just one goal in his third period of action, but in overtime, he allowed the game-winner 26 seconds into the extra session. Despite his age, Glass made his NHL debut last season with the Blackhawks, recording a 3-7-3 record, 3.36 GAA and .898 save percentage. Glass is strictly an insurance policy in case anything happens to the Flames top two goaltenders, Mike Smith and Jon Gillies.

Flames' Jeff Glass: Inks PTO with Calgary
Glass signed a professional tryout offer with the Flames on Monday, RDS.ca reports.
Glass made his NHL debut as a 32-year-old with the Blackhawks last season and wound up with a 3-7-3 record, 3.36 GAA and .898 save percentage through 15 games as a stop-gap option with Corey Crawford largely unavailable. The Flames are set to open the new season with Mike Smith and Jon Gillies as the team's top two netminders, but it can't hurt to have Glass as a contingency plan in case injuries strike.

Blackhawks' Jeff Glass: Bumps down a rank

At the beginning of the season, Glass wasn't expected to accrue any NHL time unless and Corey Crawford was injured, and Crawford endured a concussion on Dec. 23 that left him out for the year. The 32-year-old goaltender was always going to be sent to the minors once Corey Crawford (concussion) was cleared to play, and it appears that time has come. Glass had some solid starts during his first stint in the NHL, but mostly struggled, compiling a 3-6-3 record while posting a sub-par 3.31 GAA and .898 save percentage in 14 appearances. If Glass goes unclaimed and the Blackhawks' top two goaltenders are able to stay healthy, he'll likely remain in the minors for the rest of the 2017-18 campaign.

Glass allowed four goals on 36 shots in Tuesday's loss to Vegas.
It's hard to point the finger at Glass for this one, as the Golden Knights are a powerhouse and gave Chicago more than they could handle. The Blackhawks have lost seven straight games and Glass has individually suffered six straight defeats. These are miserable times in the Windy City and both Glass and Anton Forsberg don't seem capable of saving the season in the absence of elite starter Corey Crawford (concussion). With a lackluster .898 save percentage in 14 appearances, it's best to steer clear of Glass in fantasy for the time being.

Blackhawks' Jeff Glass: Will have chance to rebound Tuesday
Glass will tend twine against the Golden Knights on Tuesday.
On Monday, Anton Forsberg yielded three goals on 13 shots, so Jeff Glass came in as relief but wasn't much better, allowing three goals on nine shots.This isn't news, though, since Glass has posted zero wins and six losses in his last eight appearances, recording a dismal .881 save percentage and 3.41 GAA in that span. The Golden Knights won't make it easy to break out of this slump, as they have scored 3.4 goals per game this season -- second in the league. With Tuesday's 12-game slate, fantasy owners should be advised to steer clear of Glass for the time being.

Blackhawks' Jeff Glass: Awful in relief
Glass allowed three goals on just nine shots after entering in the second period of Monday's 6-1 loss to Arizona.
Chicago was all over Arizona once Glass replaced Anton Forsberg, but it didn't matter. The journeyman netminder now sports an .899 save percentage and 3.24 GAA for the campaign, and if the Blackhawks don't soon find an answer in goal, the playoffs will be out of reach. Glass projects to continue splitting starts with Forsberg until Corey Crawford (concussion) returns, but it will also be interesting to see if the club looks outside the organization for goaltending help. Nonetheless, Glass should be viewed as a risky option in all fantasy settings. It's also worth noting that Crawford returned to practice Monday.

Glass made a decent early impression between the pipes for the Blackhawks, but it's rolled downhill since then. He last picked up a win for the club Jan. 12 against the Jets, going 0-3-2 in his six appearances since then. Glass posted an encouraging start last time out, setting aside 20 of the 22 shots he faced against the Flames. The 31-year-old netminder will attempt to build off of that outing in a rivalry matchup with a Wild club tallying 3.22 goals per game at home this season.

Glass allowed three goals on 19 shots in a 3-0 loss to the Wild on Saturday.
Despite outshooting the Wild, 44-19, the Blackhawks fell once again in part because of poor goaltending. A victory would have pulled the Blackhawks within six points of a playoff spot, but a loss Saturday drops them 10 back and hopes of them making the playoffs are starting to dwindle. Unfortunately, Glass is a big reason the Blackhawks aren't in playoff positioning. Since taking over for the injured Corey Crawford (upper body) towards the end of December, Glass is 3-4-3 with a .905 save percentage and 3.14 GAA.

Glass has now suffered four straight losses and is failing to deliver in the absence of Corey Crawford (concussion). The veteran netminder finally making it to the NHL is a fantastic story, but he simply hasn't been good enough for a Blackhawks team desperately needing points. Anton Forsberg isn't turning heads right now, but even when Glass does get a start in place of him, he doesn't make for a trustworthy fantasy play.

Glass has been downright terrible of late, as he is 0-2-2 in his last five outings, along with a 3.49 GAA. It's a bit surprising that coach John Quenneville continues to ride the 31-year-old, considering Anton Forsberg has fared marginally better in his limited appearances -- a 5-8-3 record and 2.94 GAA in 19 outings. For fans and fantasy owners alike, the return of Corey Crawford (concussion) can't come soon enough.

Glass stopped 35 of 39 shots in Saturday's overtimes loss to the Flames.
Glass turned in a valiant effort, but Sean Monahan struck in the extra frame to send the veteran to his fifth straight loss. The losses may be piling up, but Glass is still sporting a .908 save percentage and has helped Chicago earn a point in consecutive starts. Glass certainly isn't an ideal fantasy option, but if he continues to see playing time and can build off this outing, he could be worth scooping up in a very deep league.

Forsberg allowed a single goal on 43 shots during Tuesday's 2-1 win over Nashville.
The Finn recorded a 24-save win before the All-Star break, so it's encouraging to see him follow it up strongly Tuesday. Forsberg has an opportunity to take the No. 1 job and run with it for the Blackhawks, as Corey Crawford's status is murky while nursing a concussion, and Jeff Glass has lost four of his past five starts. While taking a speculative flier on Forsberg could pay off handsomely down the stretch drive for fantasy owners, it's probably wise to temper expectations for the immediate future.

Blackhawks' Jeff Glass: Holds Toronto to three in loss
Glass turned aside 33 of Toronto's 36 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs on Wednesday.
Considering the opponent and the fact that he's just nine games into his NHL career, Glass performed admirably against Toronto, allowing just one 5-on-5 goal in the contest. He's now had two consecutive solid starts in relief of the injured Corey Crawford (concussion), giving up a combined five goals on 67 shots to the Leafs and the Lightning. But with Crawford likely to return soon, his value is in more of a spot start role, and it isn't likely to last long.
