College football scores, top 25 rankings, schedule, NCAA games: LSU, Ohio State, Oregon cruise

The race toward the College Football Playoff continued to heat up in Week 12 after we saw a bit of a shakeup near the top of the CFP Rankings early last week. All of the teams firmly in contention were in action this weekend as they all looked to either secure their positioning or even improve their status here in mid-November.

No. 4 Georgia certainly did well enough to secure its position as the final team in the field with a 21-14 victory on the road over No. 12 Auburn in the latest edition of the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry. No. 8 Minnesota was not so lucky, however, as the Gophers were dealt the same fate as many others before them by falling in Kinnick Stadium to No. 20 Iowa. In the highlight game of the evening, No. 13 Baylor jumped out to a huge lead but was unable to fend off Oklahoma's largest comeback in school history in a 34-31 thriller in Waco. To cap it all off late night, Pac-12 favorites Oregon and Utah each took one step closer to what looks like an inevitable matchup in the conference title game come December.

There was a lot to cover with those games and everything in between. CBS Sports was here every step of the way to update you with the latest scores, highlights and storylines throughout the day. All times Eastern

Ho hum, here's Jonathan Taylor having a career day while Wisconsin keeps Nebraska at arm's length. Taylor has 204 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Figured Nebraska would have a hard time stopping him so this has gone pretty much to script. Badgers putting this one to bed as the fourth quarter winds down.

Indiana drew up a fake punt and it didn't go so well. To make matters worse, Penn State scored two plays later on a Journey Brown 35-yard touchdown run. The Hoosiers couldn't have had a worse start to the second half.

Haven't talked much about Florida-Missouri because, well, there hasn't been much to talk about. But this Kyle Trask touchdown pass made it 13-3 early in the third quarter. Still plenty of time, but the Gators defense has done its job. Mizzou has had pretty poor field position to start all day and the big plays have been few and far between. Unless the Tigers have made some key offensive adjustments in the second half -- or Florida forgets how to play defense -- this 10-point lead feels more like 30.

These Snapchat filters have gone too far.

Terrible scene in Starkville as Tua Tagovailoa has to be carted off the field after taking a hit in the second quarter vs. Mississippi State. According to ESPN's broadcast, Tua was "screaming in pain" at a possible right hip injury. He was already coming off a high ankle sprain injury, but looked good before his latest setback.

Wisconsin is in a battle at Nebraska, but the Badgers have opened up a bit of a lead thanks to this nice run after the catch by receiver A.J. Taylor. That gave Wisky a 24-14 lead on the Huskers. Jonathan Taylor's been good with his usual numbers (85 yards, TD), but he's been overshadowed a bit by Huskers running back Dedrick Mills, who is already over the century mark. Probably going to need more out of quarterback Adrian Martinez, though, who is 4-of-10 passing.

Remember when Tua's ankle was a potential problem? He's 9-of-10 (just threw his first incompletion) for 193 yards and two touchdowns, including this dime to Jaylen Waddle. The Tide scored on their first offensive possession and haven't looked back at 28-7 over Mississippi State in the second quarter. Tua looks fine and I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled him at halftime, mid-third quarter at the max.

Will this be the only touchdown of the day in UMass vs. Northwestern? The Wildcats closed as a 40 POINT favorite over the Minutemen and have some work to do if they're going to cover.

Early game of the day is shaping up to be Indiana-Penn State. The Nittany Lions just went ahead on a long Sean Clifford scramble for a touchdown to make it 17-14. This one has been back and forth with both offenses moving the ball at-will. The Hoosiers have some great receivers that the Nittany Lions just don't have an answer for. Keep in mind Penn State's defense hadn't allowed more than 20 points in seven of its first eight games, but Indiana looks like it'll easily pass that mark.

UPDATE: Tua Tagovailoa does start at quarterback for Alabama. The nation breathes a sigh of relief.

Tua Watch 2019 continues on Saturday vs. Mississippi State. Tagovailoa took first-team snaps on some pre-game drills, but it's a game-time decision whether he or Mac Jones will start against the Bulldogs.
