CBS Sports Network is proud to premiere the hour-long documentary 'Forward Progress: The Integration of SEC Football,' which will debut on the channel this coming Monday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m. ET.

As part of CBSSN's programming in celebration of Black History Month, 'Forward Progress' documents the local, regional and national impact of Nate Northington, the University of Kentucky student-athlete who became the SEC's first-ever African-American football player. The above video offers a preview of the documentary.

From a CBS Sports Network news release:

FORWARD PROGRESS looks at the coordinated effort to integrate SEC football, which started at the highest levels of state government before reaching Kentucky’s athletic department. With the tense racial climate of the time serving as a backdrop, the documentary tells the story of Northington and examines his relationship with classmate Greg Page. Page was recruited to play alongside Northington and integrate the conference with him, but tragic circumstances impeded those plans.
The documentary features an in-depth interview with Northington, as well as conversations with former Kentucky basketball coach Joe B. Hall, Northington’s African- American teammates Wilbur Hackett and Houston Hogg, and NBA Hall of Famer Wes Unseld.
