Aho will play Wednesday versus the Penguins, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports. Aho was initially slated to be rested for this game, but Anders Lee (personal) will now sit out instead. Aho will serve as a seventh defenseman, so it's likely his ice time will be limited anyway.... See More ... See Less

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Sitting out against Pens
Aho will be rested for Wednesday's matchup with Pittsburgh, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Aho missed time as recently as April 9 against the Rangers due to an upper-body issue, so the decision to give him the night off shouldn't come as a surprise. Without the 28-year-old Swede in the lineup, the Isles will need to either bring a player up from the minors or hope that Noah Dobson (upper body) is ready to play.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Adds helper Sunday
Aho notched an assist, two shots on goal, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Ducks. Aho has a goal and two assists over his last three outings. The 28-year-old defenseman has played in seven straight games, though he remains limited to a third-pairing role with virtually no power-play time. For the season, he's produced nine points, 43 shots on net, 64 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over 48 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Gets on scoresheet Thursday
Aho scored a goal on three shots, blocked two shots, added two PIM and went plus-3 in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Sharks. Aho has a goal and an assist over his last two games following a 10-game point drought that also saw him scratched six times. The 28-year-old defenseman is holding down a third-pairing role while Scott Mayfield (lower body) and Robert Bortuzzo (lower body) are both on long-term injured reserve. Aho has two goals, eight points, 41 shots on net, 62 blocked shots and a minus-8 rating through 47 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Activated off injured reserve
Aho (upper body) was taken off the injured reserve list Wednesday, per the NHL media site, which indicates he'll play in the evening's game against Boston. Aho was originally considered a game-time decision, but his activation seems to suggest he's ready to return. He has four assists, nine hits and 26 blocks in 19 appearances this season.... Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Game-time call Wednesday
Aho (upper body) is expected to be a game-time decision for Wednesday's contest versus Boston, coach Lane Lambert told Andrew Gross of Newsday. Aho has four assists, nine hits and 26 blocks in 19 contests this campaign. He's missed the Islanders' last eight games because of the injury. Scott Mayfield suffered an upper-body injury and isn't expected to be an option Wednesday, so if Aho can't return, then Grant Hutton might play after being summoned from AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday.... Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Joins team on the ice
Aho (upper body) is skating with the team but won't be ready to face San Jose on Tuesday. Aho will be sidelined for his fifth straight game Tuesday but appears to be nearing a return to action. The blueliner has yet to score a goal in 19 games this season while recording just 18 shots and averaging a paltry 14:11 of ice time. Given his limited minutes and lack of offensive upside, fantasy players probably shouldn't be expecting much out of the Swede even once cleared to play.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Moves to IR
Aho (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Monday. Aho, who sat out Saturday's 1-0 shootout loss to Philadelphia, will be unavailable for at least two more games following his placement on the IR list. He has registered four assists, 18 shots on goal and 26 blocked shots in 19 appearances this campaign. Mike Reilly or Grant Hutton, who played in Saturday's contest, are candidates to suit up for the Islanders during Aho's absence.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Unavailable Saturday
Aho (upper body) won't play Saturday against Philadelphia, according to Andrew Gross of Newsday. Aho was injured early in Friday's 5-3 win over Ottawa. He has produced four assists, 18 shots on goal and 26 blocked shots in 19 appearances this campaign. Grant Hutton, who was recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Saturday, will replace Aho in the lineup Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Suffers injury Friday
Aho (upper body) was injured in Friday's 5-3 win over Ottawa, per Callum Fraser of NHL.com. Aho limped off the ice just 3:07 into the first period. He was not able to return and an update on his status was not provided following the contest. It's unclear at this time if he will be available for Saturday's matchup with Philadelphia. If Aho can't play, Mike Reilly, who was claimed off waivers from Florida on Saturday, may get a chance to make his New York debut.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Nabs assist in overtime loss
Aho posted a power-play assist, two shots on goal and two blocked shots in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Canucks. Aho snapped a three-game point drought with the helper. While he's generally seen limited even-strength time on the third pairing, he also has a spot on the second power-play unit. The 27-year-old defenseman is at three assists (two on the power play), 21 blocked shots, 17 shots on net and a minus-3 rating through 15 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Gets on scoresheet with helper
Aho notched an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Blue Jackets. The helper was Aho's first point in seven contests this season. The 27-year-old blueliner has been a fixture on the third pairing, but with Scott Mayfield (leg) out, the Islanders have leaned on their top-four defensemen more. Aho has added eight shots on goal, 10 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating, but his limited role is not conducive to helping fantasy managers.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Returning Sunday
Aho (upper body) is in Sunday's lineup against Carolina, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Aho is set to play for the first time since March 18 after missing the last six games. The 27-year-old has five goals and 21 points through 66 games this season. He'll skate in a top-four role Sunday.... See More ... See Less -

Aho will miss a sixth game after suffering an upper-body injury on March 18 in San Jose. The 27-year-old blueliner has five goals, 16 assists and a plus-6 rating in 66 games this year. Samuel Bolduc will remain in the lineup in a bottom-pairing role.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Not with team in Washington
Aho (upper body) didn't make the trip to Washington for Wednesday's matchup, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Aho will be unavailable for his fifth consecutive contest due to his lingering upper-body injury. Prior to getting hurt, the defenseman had registered points in four of his last seven contests, though he was stuck in a 10-game goal drought. Until Aho is cleared to play, Samuel Bolduc will continue to deputize in his stead on the blue line.... See More ... See Less -

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Considered day-to-day
Aho (upper body) is considered day-to-day, Stefen Rosner of NYIHockeyNow.com reports. Aho was injured early in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Sharks. He didn't practice Monday and the Islanders recalled blueliner Samuel Bolduc to replace him in the lineup Tuesday against Toronto.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Suffers upper-body injury
Aho (upper body) took a high hit in the first period of Saturday's game versus the Sharks, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Aho was on the receiving end of a hit from Kevin Labanc. It's unclear how bad Aho's injury is, so he can be considered day-to-day until more information if available.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Assists in consecutive contests
Aho notched an assist and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Ducks. Aho has a helper in each of the last two games and four of six outings in March. He helped out on Hudson Fasching's second-period marker. Aho is up to 21 points, 80 shots on net, 66 blocked shots, 36 hits and a plus-7 rating through 65 contests this season, making the most of his time on the third pairing.... See More ... See Less -

Stan Fischler@StanFischler4D agoOne more thing on the @NYIslanders. The #PatrickRoy second-half of the season was the coach's "work in progress." He learned a ton about his team and knows who stays, who goes and how to get a play swiftly started from their own end; a bugaboo for many years. Get #Ilya better.

Stan Fischler@StanFischler4D agoGranted the @NYIslanders playoff loss to the @ Canes was hard to swallow after last night's bizarre event. But considering the issues -- fired coach, plus -- the club produced some thrilling moments. The off-season promises to be very interesting to say the least. Enjoy!

Stan Fischler@StanFischler4D agoThe aim for every team is to make the playoffs; and the @NYIslanders did that with a rush. They lost to the @Canes, a team The Hockey News Yearbook picked to win the Cup. The Isles did their best against a top club. Detroit, Ottawa, NJ, Buffalo missed playoffs. Isles made it.

Stan Fischler@StanFischler7D agoThe @NYIslanders victory goes down among the all-time gutsy, noble and wonderful in franchise history. Kudos to #Varly, #Barzy, #Bobby -- he delivered the shot for Mat -- and the rest of the gang. Let's hope they can keep it going in Raleigh.

Stan Fischler@StanFischler8D agoThe @NYIslanders finished the season 8-0-1. Let's see that team in Game Four. There's still hope for a win and-- if that happens -- good can come again. But for now; it's win or bust.

Stan Fischler@StanFischler8D agoI can see the @NYIslanders winning game 4. IF -- A. Varly is at the top of his game; B. Barzy and Bo do what Nelly is doing; score! C. Tighter D and D.
