Carson Palmer is one of the few franchise quarterbacks to see the field this preseason. After a nice back-shoulder throw to Jaron Brown earlier in the first quarter, the Cardinals' quarterback somehow lost sight of Chargers cornerback Brandon Flowers, who materialized near the line of scrimmage and snatched a would-be screen pass out of midair before returning it for a 32-yard touchdown.

Not to be outdone, Palmer's backup, Drew Stanton, hooked up with Chargers safety Jahleel Addae for an interception that resulted in a 61-yard return. (Silver lining: It wasn't a pick-six!)

The Cardinals are favorites to return to the playoffs this season. That doesn't change because of a meaningless preseason pick from Palmer (or another one from the backup), who remains the engine that drives this offense.
