NHL Draft Order 2022: Canadiens have No. 1 pick, rest of first round order
Montreal, the host of the 2022 NHL Draft, is the second host team since 1985 to make the top selection
The Montreal Canadiens won the No. 1 pick in the NHL Draft back in May. Two months later, decision day is here for the Habs.
For Montreal, it's the team's sixth top pick in franchise history, while the New Jersey Devils and Arizona Coyotes will pick second and third, respectively. Montreal is set to host the 2022 draft, putting the squad in extremely rare company. The last time a host team made the top pick was in 1985, when the Toronto Maple Leafs selected defenseman Wendel Clark.
Montreal last picked No. 1 in 1980, when it selected forward Doug Wickenheiser.
