  • Brent Regner: Moving overseas

Regner penned a deal with Red Bull Salzburg of the EBEL on Friday.

Regner spent the 2017-18 campaign with the Stars organization on a two-way deal, but was unable to secure a callup, despite producing 31 points and a plus-15 rating in 66 contests, adding another 11 points in the postseason. Selected by the Blue Jackets in the fifth round of the 2008 NHL Draft, the 29-year-old's only NHL stint came during 2015-16 when he logged seven games for the Panthers. While a return to North America certainly isn't impossible, it seems more likely Regner will close out his career abroad.

  • Stars' Brent Regner: Waived by Dallas

Regner was placed on waivers Tuesday with the intention of being sent to the AHL, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.

With the amount of defensive depth the Stars have, it would have been a surprise to see Regner make the Opening Night roster. The 28-year-old should serve as a call-up option this season, but likely nothing more, leaving him with little fantasy value.

  • Stars' Brent Regner: Heading to Big D

Regner inked a one-year, two-way contract with the Stars on Saturday.

Regner made his NHL debut with the Panthers in 2015-16 but was unable to crack their game-day lineup since -- spending all of last season with AHL Springfield. While with the Thunderbirds, the former fifth-round pick notched two goals and 11 helpers in 28 contests. If the blueliner makes an appearance for Dallas, it likely will be the result of injuries as he figures to begin the year in the minors.

  • Panthers' Brent Regner: Lands on waivers Saturday

The Panthers waived Regner on Saturday, Harvey Fialkov of the Miami Herald reports.

Regner will report to AHL Springfield in the likely event that he clears waivers. The 27-year-old defenseman lacks experience at hockey's highest level, so keeping him in the minors where he'll presumably pick up substantial playing time is the best course of action.

  • Panthers' Brent Regner: Demoted to minors Friday

Regner has been sent down to AHL Portland.

Regner trades places with defensive prospect Michael Matheson, the team's first-round pick from 2012, ahead of Saturday's home game against the Jets. Regner has made his way into seven games at the NHL level this campaign but failed to land on the scoresheet and only mustered four PIM. He's an option for a future call-up if the Panthers need a change of pace.

  • Panthers' Brent Regner: Recalled by Panthers

Regner was recalled by the Panthers on Friday, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

Regner will likely provide insurance along the blue line for the Panthers, with the news that Steve Kampfer had ice on his knee Friday. If Kampfer were unavailable for Saturday's contest against the Penguins, Regner would presumably draw into the lineup in his place. However, it's quite possible the 26-year-old defenseman's stint with the parent club won't last long.
