Fisher's 10 points in OT help Siena get past Iona 82-78
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Evan Fisher had 10 of his 21 points in overtime, including two free throws with 12.4 seconds left, to help Siena beat Iona 82-78 on Monday night.
Fisher's free throws made it 81-78 and Iona's Zach Lewis missed an open look at a 3-pointer that would have tied it with eight seconds left. Kadeem Smithen secured the rebound and made 1 of 2 free throws to cap the scoring.
Fisher made 3-pointers on Siena's first two possessions of overtime and the Saints (8-19, 4-10 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) led the rest of the way. Ricky McGill's layup with 17 seconds left cut Iona's deficit to 79-78.
Siena trailed for over 22 straight minutes in regulation until taking the lead at 64-63 on Khalil Richard's jumper with 3:26 left. McGill gave the Gaels (16-11, 10-5) a 66-64 lead with 1:26 left and Jordan Horn's jumper for the Saints tied it at 25 seconds.
Richard had a career-high 22 points for Siena. Horn added 18 and Prince Oduro scored 12.
