Update, Oct. 18, 1 p.m. ET: Mark Dantonio confirmed Sunday that Jalen Watts-Jackson -- scorer of what's immediately the most famous touchdown in Michigan State history -- underwent surgery Sunday morning after suffering a fractured hip on the Michigan Stadium turf.

Per the Detroit Free-Press, Watts-Jackson's sister posted a photo to Twitter with Jackson in the hospital and indicated he would be "on crutches for about three months," costing him the remainder of the season.

Original story:

Jalen Watts-Jackson will forever go down in Michigan State lore for his fumble return touchdown as time expired to beat Michigan, 27-23. However, after scoring the touchdown, Watts-Jackson suffered a severe hip injury and had to be carted off the field and taken to the hospital.

It appears as though Watts-Jackson sustained the injury during the celebration as his teammates jumped on him after he reached the end zone.

It's an awful break for a player that should have been able to celebrate and bask in the thrill of making one of the plays of the season.
