USC officially introduced former Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley as the program's next head coach on Monday. Riley went 55-10 with the Sooners, appearing in three College Football Playoffs in his five seasons at the helm. It'll be interim head coach Donte Williams, however, leading USC in its regular-season finale. The Trojans (4-7) will wrap up their lackluster 2021 campaign with a rescheduled tilt at California (4-7) on Saturday night. The teams were originally scheduled to meet in November, but that game was postponed by a COVID-19 outbreak.

Kickoff is set for 11 p.m. ET. The Golden Bears are 4.5-point favorites in the latest USC vs. California odds at Caesars Sportsbook, while the total is 57.5. Before entering any USC vs. California picks, you'll want to see the college football predictions from the model at SportsLine.

What you need to know about California

There is no bowl berth on the line for either team, so motivation becomes a key aspect of this handicap. California has covered the spread in four of its last six games, while USC has covered in one of its last six games. The Golden Bears have one last chance to send their seniors out on a high note, which gives them a motivational edge at home.

California's defense has been solid this season, holding opposing quarterbacks to a 58.4 percent completion rate. The Golden Bears have also recorded 13 interceptions, with three separate players picking off three passes. USC has lost five of its last six games and is clearly looking ahead to the future.

What you need to know about USC

USC has several positives to build on heading into this game, including the announcement of Riley as head coach. The Trojans have already secured several high-level recruits that flipped from Oklahoma this week. They are also coming off one of their best performances of the season, taking then-No. 13 BYU down to the wire in a 35-31 final.

The Trojans have not lost in Berkeley since 2003 and they have won 15 of the last 16 matchups between these teams. Freshman quarterback Jaxson Dart made the second start of his career last week, completing 23 of 35 passes for 248 yards and a touchdown. Dart also rushed for another touchdown, while running back Vavae Malepeai totaled 99 rushing yards of his own.
