The LSU student at the center of an on-campus break-in involving three LSU football players has asked that the charges against the players be dropped.
LSU quarterback Anthony Jennings, defensive lineman Maquedius Bain and defensive back Dwayne Thomas were arrested in June and charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. Thomas was also charged with simple burglary. All three players were suspended indefinitely following the arrests.
The players claimed that they broke into the apartment to retrieve items that had been stolen from Jennings, but now the victim is saying that the three players never broke in, but were invited.
"Whether [the players] broke into the apartment or not is the question. Whether they were invited in is the question," said East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore. "I want to know what [the student] said initially. What he's saying now is that he never told them they weren't invited in the room."
Moore also said that the case could be resolved within a week.
If the charges are dropped, odds are all three players will be reinstated to team immediately. Which would be good news for the Tigers since Anthony Jennings is currently one of two candidates to be LSU's starting quarterback this season after starting 12 of 13 games last year.
