Washington State vs. Washington updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Washington State vs. Washington football game
The Washington Huskies and the Washington State Cougars will face off in a Pac-12 clash at 10:30 p.m. ET Nov. 26 at Clarence D. Martin Stadium. If the nothing to nothing final from the last time they met is any indication, this game will be decided by the defense.
Washington ran circles around the Colorado Buffaloes last week, and the extra yardage (575 yards vs. 202 yards) paid off. The Huskies took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 54-7 win over Colorado. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33 to nothing. It was another big night for Washington's RB Wayne Taulapapa, who rushed for two TDs and 107 yards on 11 carries. Taulapapa's longest run was for 57 yards in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Washington State beat the Arizona Wildcats 31-20 last week. Washington State QB Cameron Ward was slinging it as he passed for one TD and 190 yards on 36 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 59 yards.
Washington State's defense was a presence as well, as it collected four interceptions. DB Sam Lockett III picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
This next matchup is expected to be close, with the Huskies going off at just a 2-point favorite. The smart bettors have been the ones to keep their money on Washington's opponents whenever they hit the road.
Washington is now 9-2 while the Cougars sit at 7-4. A couple stats to keep an eye on: Washington ranks 10th in the nation when it comes to overall offensive touchdowns, with 55 on the season. But Washington State comes into the contest boasting the 23rd fewest touchdowns allowed in the nation at 25. We'll see which of these strengths -- offense or defense -- will win out.

Bunch have gathered around the 10-yard line. Just a reminder that both fanbases do this and there should be no issue with it at all. #GoCougs #Wazzu https://t.co/UDnZ9vuqOS

Final: UW 51 WSU 33. Cougs couldn't get stops and couldn't get the offense going again in the second half. UW fans try to storm the field and the police prevent it. Kinda weak. Some fans did get through. #GoCougs #Wazzu

Touchdown Washington to seal it. 51-33 in a game that was a lot closer than the score entails. But UW didn't stop scoring and WSU did. #GoCougs #Wazzu

🗣 THERE WE GO D‼️

WSU goes for it on 4th and a million and while Ward completes to Ferrel, the Cougars come up short. With 2:25 left, this one is over. Defense obviously wasn't good enough but the second half offense remains inconceivably bad. #GoCougs #Wazzu
— COUGFANcom (@CougfanCOM) November 27, 2022
WSU finally gets a third down stop but Peyton Henry hits and UW leads 44-33 with 5:07 left. Cougs will need some major heroics from an offense that has just two second half touchdowns in the last four weeks. #GoCougs #Wazzu

WSU gets a PI call of its own but then stalls out and has to punt again. But Haberer pins UW at the one. Feels like one more UW score is curtains. #GoCougs

The curious decision to go for 2 rather than the PAT in the middle of the 3rd quarter looms large.

If you ever wondered how important @armani_marsh is to WSU’s defense, wonder no longer. His absence is devastating.

This game is wild. Washington scores after the PI call but Peyton Henry shanks the PAT so it stays a one possession game. 41-33 with 14:30 left. #GoCougs #Wazzu

That's a really questionable PI call. Looks like Langford just rises up to make a play and the ball is out of reach anyway. Huge call at a critical juncture. #GoCougs #Wazzu

4️⃣
— Washington Football (@UW_Football) November 27, 2022
Brutal. WSU brings heat and just about gets to Penix on third down but he escapes and puts one up that draws PI on Langford. #GoCougs #Wazzu

Medical tent is up on WSU sideline. Wonder if it is for Nakia Watson. He's taken some hard hits and was a little shaken up on the last drive. #GoCougs #Wazzu
— COUGFANcom (@CougfanCOM) November 27, 2022
WSU goes three and out. Cam scramble, Nakia run, Cam scramble and they come up two yards short. Feels like a critical missed opportunity. #GoCougs #Wazzu

UW's best interior defenderand a member of all the all-name, Tuli Letuligasenoa is slow to get up. #GoCougs #Wazzu

Oh my. Derrick Langford Jr. picks Penix in the end zone. A HUGE turn of events and the Cougars take over. The defense comes up big again. #GoCougs #Wazzu
