    • Williams signed a minor league contract with the Rockies on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training. Williams spent most of 2015 in Double-A in the Giants organization, but he did get a short taste of the majors in September. Despite this, it'll be tough to crack the 25-man roster out of spring training with Nick Hundley, Tom Murphy, and Dustin Garneau in the way.

    • Sean Newcomb among Angels cuts on Sunday

      The Angels reassigned seven players to minor league camp on Sunday, led by first-round draft pick Sean Newcomb . Newcomb had a 10.80 ERA this spring. "His talent is real," manager Mike Scioscia said. "He has a chance to be special." The Angels also reassigned RHP Trevor Gott (3.86 spring ERA), LHP Atahualpa Severino (no spring appearances), LHP Nate Smith (18.00 ERA in one inning), C Stephen McGee (no plate appearances in one game), C Jackson Williams (0-for-2), SS Eric Stamets (3-for-3 with a triple and stolen base).

    • The Angels announced Thursday they added catcher Jett Bandy and pitcher Danny Reynolds to the 40-man roster. The team also announced pitcher Michael Roth and catcher Jackson Williams were designated for assignment.

    • C Jackson Williams hooks up with Angels

      The Angels have signed catcher and former top prospect Jackson Williams. The 28-year-old Williams finally reached the majors in late August and earned 13 at-bats with Colorado before undergoing right knee surgery. Williams was a first-round pick of San Francisco in 2007.

    • Rockies catcher Jackson Williams underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, the team announced. Williams suffered the injury last Friday in his seventh appearance with the major-league team. He finishes the year 3 for 14 with one home run and three RBI.
