Garry Hanchera, the 64-year-old caddie for Champions Tour player Gene Jones passed away at the PGA Tour Champions Q-School last week. According to the PGA Tour, it appears as if Hanchera suffered a heart attack.

Hanchera collapsed while Jones was in the fairway of the par-4 15th hole. Fellow competitor Mike Goodes began CPR and compressions on Hanchera before a caddie in the preceding group took over with the same efforts. Attempts to revive Hanchera were then made with a defibrillator in the fairway by TPC Scottsdale staff.

That is pretty much the worst thing that can happen on a golf course. The PGA Tour released a statement on Sunday.

“The PGA TOUR would like to extend its condolences to the family and friends of Garry Hanchera,” said PGA Tour Champions President Greg McLaughlin. “We were saddened to hear of his passing, and ask that you keep his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
