Despite bad news on the coronavirus front coming in from other parts of the country, Ohio expects to take a big step toward resuming high school sports next week.

As reported by Mike Dyer of WCPO in Cincinnati, Lt. Gov. Jon Husted announced Thursday that contact practice may resume as early as Monday.

"This means basketball, football, lacrosse and other contact sports can resume scrimmages and full training regiments as long as the safety protocols are observed," Husted said. "The start date for Phase 2 will be June the 22 — next week."
