The Orioles have recalled Zach Britton from Triple-A Norfolk to start on Tuesday night against the Twins, Eduardo Encino of The Baltimore Sun reported. The 24-year-old lefty will be making his 2012 debut after starting 28 games for the Orioles last season.
Britton had a 4.61 ERA and 1.56 K/BB last season and was sent to Triple-A to work out the kinks this season. In eight starts for Norfolk, Britton has a 4.15 ERA, 30 strikouts and 16 walks in 47.2 innings.
Baltimore also recalled Brad Bergesen as a long-relief option. Bergesen has a 4.03 ERA in 80.1 innings with Norfolk this season and a 4.68 MLB ERA in 394.1 career innings.
To make room for Britton and Bergesen, Robert Andino was placed on the disabled list with a shoulder strain, Miguel Socolovich was optioned to Triple-A and Nick Johnson was moved from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL.
