Matthew Dellavedova will have his own pair of signature sneakers soon. The Cleveland Cavaliers backup point guard signed a three-year deal with Chinese sportswear company Peak, and his Australian fans will be able to buy the Delly 1 later this year.
"PEAK Australia approached me nearly two years ago with the idea of introducing a basketball shoe into the Australian market," Dellavedova said in a press release. "From there, talks became more serious in the past year and PEAK worked hard on developing a shoe that offers the type of reliability and performance that drives me every day. It's pretty special. I can't wait to unveil them for the first time later this year."
This is great news for people who love unusual NBA endorsements. It follows Dellavedova's partnership with the Cleveland Coffee Company, which produced a coffee blend called "G'Day Mate" in his honor.
Dellavedova isn't done signing contracts. He will be a restricted free agent this summer, and he is in line for a significant raise. This season, Dellavedova increased his production in essentially every area, most notably improving as a passer and making 41 percent of his 3-pointers. If he plays well in the NBA Finals, a team might give him a bigger offer sheet than you might expect.
