Through 3 Quarters

The Boston Celtics are just one quarter away from delivering their fans the win they've been expecting. It's looking more and more like their high-powered offense is just too much for the Charlotte Hornets as Boston lead 88-78.

Point guard Marcus Smart has led the way so far for the Celtics, as he has 18 points and six assists in addition to four rebounds. Charlotte has been relying on the performance of point guard LaMelo Ball, who has 29 points along with four boards.

the Hornets have lost 83% of the time when they were down heading into the fourth quarter this season, so this one seems just about wrapped up

Who's Playing

Charlotte @ Boston

Current Records: Charlotte 28-23; Boston 27-25

What to Know

After a two-game homestand, the Charlotte Hornets will be on the road. They will take on the Boston Celtics at 7:30 p.m. ET Wednesday at TD Garden after having had a few days off. Boston should still be riding high after a big win, while the Hornets will be looking to get back in the win column.

Charlotte has to be aching after a bruising 115-90 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. This contest was a close 51-47 at the break, but unfortunately for Charlotte it sure didn't stay that way. Shooting guard Terry Rozier had a pretty forgettable game, finishing with ten points on 4-for-14 shooting in his 39 minutes on the court.

Meanwhile, Boston made easy work of the Miami Heat on Monday and carried off a 122-92 victory. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Boston had established a 94-70 advantage. Their shooting guard Jaylen Brown did his thing and had 29 points.

The Hornets are expected to lose this next one by 6.5. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 13-6 against the spread when expected to lose.

Charlotte is now 28-23 while the Celtics sit at 27-25. Two defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Charlotte is stumbling into the game with the third most points allowed per game in the league, having given up 114.6 on average. Boston's defense has more to brag about, as they they have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 43.60%, which places them second in the league. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
