Could Revis stage Holdout No. 3? (Getty Images)
Darrelle Revis took part in the Jets' minicamp Tuesday but there's still no guarantee he'll show up for training camp in late July. The team's 2007 first-round pick, he was embroiled in contract disputes twice previously. The most recent was two years ago, and it was painstakingly documented on HBO's Hard Knocks.

Considered one of the league's best cornerbacks, Revis has been asked repeatedly this offseason about the possibility he'll want to re-work his current contract and repeatedly he's responded with some form of "I don't know."

He says he's learned from previous experiences and thinks a sit-down with team owner Woody Johnson, general manager Mike Tannenbaum and coach Rex Ryan is a likely scenario.

"I have grown, I've been in a lot of situations, you guys gotta remember even my rookie year, my rookie contract I didn't get in until late," said Revis, according to the Newark Star-Ledger's Conor Orr. "The second one, it was the same type of scenario but we'll see. When me, Mike, Rex and Mr. Johnson sit down at that point, we'll discuss it and see what the future is for me. I think that's the best way I can sum it up."

Revis added that "sooner or later [a meeting] has to [happen]. I got two more years left, so we'll see and we'll go from there. Whatever is best for me and the organization, we'll get through it."

During a recent appearance on WFAN, Ryan was asked about the potential for Revis Holdout No. 3. “I can tell you one thing -- obviously, Revis is a great player and I’m looking forward to having him on our team in 2012," he said via SportsRadioInterviews.com. "Anything beyond that, I’m just getting focused and ready for the season."

Revis, meanwhile, seems unconcerned about possible hits to his image as a result of a another renegotiation. "This is my situation and my career and that's how you have to look at it," he said. "It's not like I don't love the New York Jets fans ... sooner or later we have to talk about it. That's just how the fans can look at it."

As PFT.com's Josh Alper points out, if Revis' stature as a top-flight cornerback isn't leverage enough, the Jets are barred from franchising him in 2013 should he play out the remaining two years on his contract in New York.

Maybe Tim Tebow, in addition to Wildcat wunderkind and special teams prodigy, could also play cornerback. (Because no discussion about the Jets would be complete without the obligatory Tebow mention.)
