Washington spread reaches critical number

The Washington Football Team originally opened as a 3.5 point favorite, but that number slipped below a field goal on Wednesday and stood firm heading into the weekend. On Sunday, that spread has since bumped back up to Washington -3, meaning that Ron Rivera's club -- that is 3-3-1 ATS this season -- will need to clear the Giants by more than just a field goal now. Despite a 1-7 record entering Week 9, New York has been solid ATS, owning a 5-3 record. Washington is also looking to snap a 13-game ATS losing streak on extended rest.

Broncos-Falcons total reaches 50

The total for Broncos-Falcons has fluctuated throughout the week. It opened at 47.5 and quickly shot up to 50. This weekend, however, momentum started to swing towards the under, which drove the number below 50 and went as low as 48.5. With kickoff less than a hour away, we're seeing this total creep back up to 50. Atlanta will be without receiver Calvin Ridley, but Denver will have running back Phillip Lindsay and receiver Tim Patrick.

Seahawks inactives: Carson, Hyde down

Inactives: RB Chris Carson, OG Mike Iupati, DL Benson Mayowa, DB Shaquill Griffin, RB Carlos Hyde, DB Ugochukwu Amadi

There are no real surprises here as Seattle already ruled Hyde and Carson out on Friday. Their absences will thrust DeeJay Dallas back into the starting spot in the Seahawks backfield. Last week, Dallas totaled 41 rushing yards, caught five passes for 17 yards and had two touchdowns.

Texans inactives: Roby out for disciplinary reasons

Inactives: LB Kyle Emanuel, OT Charlie Heck, and WR Isaiah Coulter, CB Bradley Roby

While Bradley Roby was listed on the injury report this week with a knee injury, the Texans corner will miss this Week 9 head-to-head due to disciplinary reasons, according to multiple reports. Outside of that, the Texans have a rather spot injury report heading into this matchup.

Washington inactives: No surprises here

Inactives: QB Dwayne Haskins, WR Tony Brown, WR Robert Foster, LB Thomas Davis Sr., T Geron Christian Sr, WR Dontrelle Inman, DE Casey Toohill

The Washington Football Team enters this game relatively healthy as Haskins continues to be a healthy scratch just one season after the franchise used a first-round pick on him.

Jaguars inactives: Minshew officially out

Inactives: QB Gardner Minshew II, RB Devine Ozigbo, CB Josiah Scott, CB Luq Barcoo, LB Dakota Allen, DE/LB Aaron Lynch, DL Caraun Reid

While it's not a big surprise, quarterback Gardner Minshew is officially inactive for Week 9 as rookie Jake Luton will make his first NFL start under center. Minshew is dealing with a number of injuries in his right thumb, which has forced him out of the lineup and possibly out of his starting spot. Earlier this week, coach Doug Marrone did not commit to handing the reigns back to Minshew when he returns to health.

Lions inactives: Stafford in, Golladay out

Inactives: WR Kenny Golladay, WR Jamal Agnew, G Joe Dahl, S Tracy Walker, QB David Blough, G Logan Stenberg

Quarterback Matthew Stafford was removed from the COVID-19 list on Saturday and is active today vs.. Minnesota. While Detroit will have its quarterback ready to roll, Stafford will be without his top receiving option in Kenny Golladay, who is inactive due to a hip injury that forced him to miss the entire week of practice.

Ravens inactives: No Ingram again

Inactives: QB Trace McSorley RB Mark Ingram DE Jihad Ward ILB L.J. Fort DT Broderick Washington

For a second straight week, the Ravens will be without Mark Ingram. This opens the door for a major workload for Gus Edwards and rookie J.K. Dobbinson who topped the 100-yard mark on limited touches. However, came in mind the matchup against a much-improved (and arguably elite) Colts defense is not ideal here.

Vikings inactives: Number of corners down

Inactives: WR Tajae Sharpe, CB Cameron Dantzler, CB Dylan Mabin, DE Jordan Brailford, OT Oli Udoh, DT James Lynch

Minnesota's secondary will be down a number of cornerbacks when they face the Lions, including Cameron Dantzler, who was ruled out on Friday after not clearing concussion protocol. Second-year corner Dylan Mabin was also ruled out.

Bears inactives: No surprises at all

Inactives: Mitch Trubisky, Sam Mustipher, John Jenkins, Roy Robertson-Harris, Trevis Gipson

Trubisky will be out with an injury just one week after Bears fans started to call for him to potentially return to the lineup and replace the struggling Nick Foles. Otherwise, Chicago is relatively healthy for this matchup.

Panther inactives: Jeremy Chinn down

Inactives: QB PJ Walker,  WR Marken Michel, S Jeremy Chinn,  S Sean Chandler, OL Michael Schofield, LT Russell Okung, DT Bruce Hector

Carolina's secondary just received a big blow after rookie safety Jeremy Chinn has officially been listed inactive for Week 9. Chinn practiced on a limited capacity on Thursday and Friday and was originally listed as questionable due to a knee injury so his inactive status is a bit surprising.

Giants inactives: Tate doesn't travel

Inactives: WR Golden Tate (coaches decision) RB Devonta Freeman (ankle) OT Jackson Barton G Kenny Wiggins TE Eric Tomlinson DL RJ McIntosh CB Brandon Williams

No true surprises here but the Giants will be without both Golden Tate and Devonta Freeman. Tate's absence means more targets for Evan Engram, Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard. With Freeman out, the Giants will continue to rotate Wayne Gallman and Alfred Morris (yes, you read that right) on early downs before turning to Dion Lewis on passing downs.

Titans inactives: Clowney out vs. Bears

Inactives: WR Adam Humphries,  OLB Jadeveon Clowney, DB Kareem Orr, OT Isaiah Wilson, TE Geoff Swaim, DL Matt Dickerson

After originally being listed as questionable, pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney will miss Tennessee's home matchup with the Chicago Bears after not practicing all week due to a knee injury. Receiver Adam Humphries could not clear concussion protocol and was ruled out on Friday. Meanwhile, Isaiah Wilson has been a healthy scratch for the fourth-straight week.

Inactives: WR T.Y. Hilton, QB Jacob Eason, WR Dezmon Patmon, DE Ron'Dell Carter, DE Ben Banogu, TE Noah Togiai, S Tavon Wilson

Indianapolis will be without star receiver T.Y. Hilton today after a groin injury forced him to miss all week and officially listed him as doubtful heading into the weekend. Receivers Reece Fountain and DeMichael Harris were both promoted from the practice squad and are active today.

Bills inactives: No Morse, no other surprises

Inactives: DL Harrison Phillips, TE Lee Smith, OL Mitch Morse, CB Josh Norman, RB Taiwan Jones, RB TJ Yeldon, QB Jake Fromm

It's a relatively healthy week for Buffalo minus the fact that they will be without offensive lineman Mitch Morse. While the line takes a slight hit, they are for the most part healthy heading into this week.

Chiefs inactives: Sammy Watkins down

Inactives: WR Sammy Watkins, S Tedric Thompson, LB Darius Harris, DE Demone Harris, OT Mitchell Schwartz, TE Ricky Seals-Jones, DT Khalen Saunders

No real surprises here for the defending champs. Sammy Watkins is one of the more notable names, but K.C. had already downgraded him to out for this matchup earlier this weekend. Pass rusher Frank Clark -- who was originally listed as questionable with a knee injury -- is good to go.

Broncos inactives: Down both starting CBs

Inactives: CB A.J. Bouye, CB Bryce Callahan, QB Jeff Driskel, WR Diontae Spencer

Fire up your Falcons pass catchers for what just became a great matchup as both starting cornerbacks for the Broncos (Bouye, Callahan) will be out for this game. Other than that, there are no surprise inactives for Denver.

Falcons inactives: Calvin Ridley out

Inactives: WR Calvin Ridley, RB Ito Smith, Dante Fowler Jr., OT John Wetzel, DT Marlon Davidson, DT Dadrin Senat, DE Takk McKinley

Matt Ryan will be without one of his primary targets in wide receiver Calvin Ridley. His inactive status isn't all too surprising after Ridley missed the entire week of practice due to a foot injury. The Falcons had held out hope that he could gut it out by listing him as questionable heading into the weekend , but have ultimately held him back from Week 9.

Colts swing as favorites vs. Ravens

The winds are now blowing in favor of the Indianapolis Colts. For the first time this week, Indy is looked at as the favorite in Week 9 vs. the Ravens as the line is now Colts -1. The spread began the day at Baltimore -1 and rose as high as Baltimore -1.5 on Sunday. Over the last hour, however, the momentum has dramatically swung in the direction of the Colts, first moving to a pick'em and now giving Philip Rivers' club the one-point advantage. The Over/Under total still sits solidly at 48.

Lions-Vikings total falling

Confidence in both the Lions and Vikings putting up some serious points in their Week 9 head-to-head may be shaken a bit as this total -- that opened up at 53.5 -- has started to fall. On Saturday, the total sat comfortably at 52.5, but has since begun a free fall to 51 on Sunday morning. Given this rather fast dip, it will be curious to see if this number ultimately drops below the 50 mark before kickoff.

Chubb could return in Week 10

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Browns expected RB Nick Chubb to return to practice next week as Cleveland comes out of their bye week. Chubb has missed more than a month with an MCL sprain, but he is now expected back at practice next week and team remains hopeful that he'll play next Sunday in Week 10. Prior to the injury, Chubb was scoring at an RB1 level for fantasy owners.

AM injury roundup

The expectation is that Keenan Allen (sore throat) will play after testing negative for COVID-19. Ezekiel Elliott, who was trending toward not suiting up on Saturday, is now expected to play, but that will be decided for sure during pregame warmups. Michael Thomas will return to action for the Saints for the first time since Week 1. Chris Godwin will return to action for the Bucs.

Panthers plan to rotate CMac, Davis

When Christian McCaffrey went down with a high-ankle sprain in Week 2, journeyman RB Mike Davis became one of fantasy football's best stories. Until slowing down over the last two weeks, Davis operated as an RB1 for a stretch of the season. Now that McCaffrey is due back for his first game since the injury, Carolina plans to rotate their $64 million (extension) RB with Davis against the Chiefs, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The plan for Week 9 is for McCaffrey and Davis to rotate series.

Raiders move to slight favorite

The Raiders and Chargers are poised to have one of the highest-scoring affairs this week with an Over/Under total currently set at 52.5. Los Angeles opened as a field goal favorite, but those odds dwindled throughout the week and largely stood as a pick'em over. That has since changed on Sunday morning with the Raiders now giving up a point and looked as as the new favorites. Chargers star receiver Keenan Allen (illness) was downgraded to questionable for this matchup, so that could be what is moving the needle in favor of Las Vegas.

Cardinals nearly turn to TD favorite overnight

There's tremendous confidence in the Arizona Cardinals heading into their Week 9 matchup with the Dolphins. Kyler Murray's squad opened as a -5 favorite against Miami earlier in the week, but that number dipped as low as Cardinals -4 before a late-week surge. That has since landed at Cardinals -6 as of Sunday morning, shifting a full 1.5 points from Saturday. This could simply be the public no longer sleeping on a Cardinals defense that will be facing Tua Tagovailoa, who didn't exactly impress in his first career start last week.

WR injuries to know

Golden Tate is not injured but a coach's decision will leave him sidelined -- he did not make the trip for the Giants. T.Y. Hilton is doubtful for the Colts. Kenny Golladay will miss Week 9 after leaving last week's game early. Sammy Watkins has been ruled OUT for another game. Calvin Ridley is questionable with a foot injury. Michael Thomas might make his return this week, but it's not guaranteed and he has also been listed as questionable.

RB injuries to know

Devonta Freeman will miss his second consecutive game for the Giants. Wayne Gallman will split early-down work with Alfred Morris and Dion Lewis will take all passing downs. Carlos Hyde and Chris Carson will miss another game for Seattle and they will likely once again turn to DeeJay Dallas for most of the backfield touches. Mark Ingram is out again so that means Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins will split work for Baltimore. Christian McCaffrey is back in the mix against the Chiefs. Both Josh Jacobs and Ezekiel Elliott are questionable, but with Dallas on a bye next week, we expect to see the Tony Pollard show. Kenyan Drake is out -- Chase Edmonds is expected to operate in a lead back role. Damien Harris is listed as questionable but expected to play.

Weather not expected to be a major factor

After bad weather was supposed to -- but ultimately didn't really -- impact the Week 8 slate, we are expecting a much more mild Week 9. The Panthers-Chiefs game could see winds reaching just over 15 mph, and the Saints-Bucs game could see winds in the 15-20 mph range, but other than those games, the weather should most be a non-factor in Week 9.

Cowboys-Steelers line hits key number

After opening as a 13.5-point road favorite over the Cowboys, the line moved off that key number and hit the full two-touchdown (14) number in the middle of the week. With uncertainty at the QB position (Cowboys will go with Garrett Gilbert) and Ezekiel Elliott (hamstring) trending toward missing this game, the line has moved to another key number. The Steelers are now 14.5-point favorites.
