The Dolphins aren't bringing back Reggie Bush. That much we know. Considering he's a running back with a sketchy history of production, it's hard to imagine he's drawing that much interest on the open market.
But maybe I'm wrong -- Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported that the market for Bush is "strong," that there are three teams interested in Bush and that "money involved in those talks is significant."
Now ... it's easy to be skeptical about such things, especially when the source is "close to Bush." (One could easily infer said source is Bush's agent and you don't need a professional dot-connector to figure out the rest. Regardless, a source in Bush's camp doesn't have any interest in limiting his market value.)
Salguero didn't get specific teams from his source, but we can eye a few potential landing spots.
CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman reported on Saturday he's hearing "some Detroit players (are) recruiting" Bush to come to the Lions. That's been the popular fit for the former USC star, with Detroit needing a running game and Bush providing a potentially dangerous complement to Mikel LeShoure.
And at least one other team makes sense and is interested: Mike Garafalo of USA Today reported Saturday that the Cardinals have spoken to Bush's agent about the possibility of bringing the running back to Phoenix.
Arizona would be a nice fit for Bush as well, provided it can upgrade the offensive line (and find a quarterback). The combo of Beanie Wells and Ryan Williams has tons of potential but neither player can stay healthy.
Bush could provide the versatility of a player who's been able to produce 1,000-yard seasons and be a dangerous threat out of the backfield (and elsewhere in formations when used properly). Not that it's a guarantee location matters to him, but Phoenix might be more attractive than Detroit. Either team could possibly contend with the right additions.
Teams seem to be wising up to overpaying running backs these days, so the "significant" money aspect of the report sounds a little specious. But there are clearly teams with interest in Bush, so it's possible that we get a little bit of a bidding war.
