CHICAGO – You’re not supposed to be able to make skill plays in driving snow like there was in Chicago, but Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews put that school of thought to the test Saturday night. With unrelenting snow falling at Soldier Field for the Stadium Series game between the Hawks and Pittsburgh Penguins, Toews put on a show in the second period.

With a burst of speed through the neutral zone, Toews found himself one-on-one with Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik. Toews made a couple quick moves with the puck and blew past Orpik. With just enough room to get Pittsburgh goalie Marc-Andre Fleury moving, Toews slipped the puck between Fleury’s legs and it trickled across the goal line to give the Blackhawks a 2-0 lead.

Despite play being continually halted due to the heavy snow, Toews found a way to make the highlight reels. It hasn’t always been pretty in the elements in Chicago, but that goal was.
