  • Emil Pettersson: Signs overseas

Pettersson inked a two-year contract with Vaxjo Lakers HC (Sweden) on Thursday.

Pettersson returns to the Lakers after two seasons playing in the AHL with Milwaukee and Tucson. The center put up 24 goals and 60 helpers in 133 minor-league games, but evidently didn't like his chances of breaking into the Coyotes' lineup any time soon. Arizona may issue the 25-year-old a qualifying offer this summer in order to retain his rights should he decide to give North America another shot.

  • Coyotes' Emil Pettersson: Headed to the desert

The Predators traded Pettersson to the Coyotes on Friday for Laurent Dauphin and Adam Helewka.

Pettersson is in the midst of another strong season in the AHL, racking up 11 goals and 22 assists over 49 games with the Admirals. More likely than not, the 25-year-old pivot will head to the Coyotes' AHL Tuscon affiliate and continue his season there. Still, Pettersson has displayed some signs that he could be worthy of an NHL roster spot in the not-too-distant future.

  • Predators' Emil Pettersson: Leading scorer for AHL Milwaukee

Pettersson leads the AHL Milwaukee Admirals with 13 points (3G, 9A) through 13 games this season.

Pettersson is a big reason why the Ads are currently sitting in second place in the AHL's Central Division, just two points behind the Manitoba Moose. Before signing an entry-level contract with the Preds back in May, the 23-year-old Pettersson registered 64 points over three seasons playing in Sweden's SHL. He will likely need some more seasoning at the minor-league level before he gets a call-up to the big club, but his future appears bright at the moment.
