Blues' Sam Anas: Placed on waivers
Anas was waived by St. Louis on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Anas has spent the last five seasons in the AHL, racking up 76 goals and 220 points in 282 games. Expect the 28-year-old to spend most of the 2021-22 campaign in the minors but he could make his NHL debut at some point if the Blues are dealing with several injuries.

Anas racked up seven assists in five AHL games before he was added to the taxi squad in late February. The 27-year-old dominated the AHL last season with 70 points in 63 games but hasn't made his NHL debut.

Anas will need to quarantine once he arrives in St. Louis, so he'll likely need to sit out for at least a week. While the 27-year-old has yet to make his NHL debut, he's been outstanding at the AHL level in his career. Anas generated 20 goals and 50 assists across 63 games with AHL Iowa last year, and he's added seven assists over five games this season.

Anas has spent all four years since college in the minors, accruing 72 goals and 125 assists in that stretch. The 27-year-old likely won't see any NHL work again this year due to the Blues' depth at forward, meaning he'll be assigned to AHL Utica once he clears waivers.

Wild's Sam Anas: Highlights camp additions
Anas is among 12 players added to the Wild's roster ahead of Monday's Phase 3 camp opening, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Considering Anas was the leading point producer in the AHL this past season (70 points in 63 games), it shouldn't be a surprise to see him joining the team for camp. The Maryland native could be in the mix for a spot in the lineup when Minnesota faces off with Vancouver, especially if the coaching staff believes he can provide more depth scoring than the likes of Ryan Donato. In addition to Anas, the team will add forwards Gerald Mayhew, Kyle Rau, J.T. Brown, Luke Johnson and Nico Sturm, defensemen Calen Addison, Louis Belpedio, Matt Bartkowski and Brennan Menell and goalies Kaapo Kahkonen and Matt Robson.

Wild's Sam Anas: Tops AHL in scoring
Anas led the AHL with 70 points in 63 games this season prior to the league canceling the remainder of the year.
Anas is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and could field plenty of offers due to the league's impending cap crunch. The 26-year-old went undrafted coming out of Quinnipiac University and spent the past four years playing for the Wild's affiliate in Iowa. Minnesota should have the inside track to secure the center's services next year, though he will likely be hoping one of the NHL's 31 clubs will offer him a one-way deal.

A high-scoring standout at the college level for Quinnipiac University, Anas blossomed in the AHL during the 2017-18 campaign. In 70 contests, Anas recorded 26 goals and 35 assists to establish himself as a legitimate offensive threat. Despite his ability, at 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds, Anas will have to overcome his lack of size if he wants to make an impact in the NHL.
