  • Mark Stuart: Signs with German club

Stuart agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Adler Mannheim of the DEL on Wednesday.

Stuart was in training camp with the Blackhawks this offseason on a professional tryout agreement, but never landed a permanent contract. Instead, the blueliner will head overseas to extend his professional career and possibly earn a look from an NHL club heading into 2018-19.

  • Mark Stuart: Released from training camp

Chicago released Stuart from his professional tryout agreement Thursday.

Fellow defenseman Cody Franson, who's also with the Blackhawks on a PTO, has been impressive during the first week of training camp, making Stuart completely expendable. The 2003 first-round pick may need to head overseas if he'd like to stave off retirement for another year.

  • Blackhawks' Mark Stuart: Signs tryout agreement

Stuart inked a professional tryout agreement with Chicago on Monday, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun Times reports.

Stuart saw action in a mere 42 contests for the Jets last season in which he recorded two goals, a pair of helpers and 79 blocked shots. Considering Winnipeg was willing to buy out the blueliner for just $1.2 million in cap savings -- when it has $7.3 million in space -- says a lot. The best-case scenario for Stuart is probably a two-way contract, with time in the AHL a near lock if the veteran wants to continue his professional career.

  • Mark Stuart: Bought out by Jets

Stuart was placed on waivers by Winnipeg on Friday for the purpose of buying out the final year of his contract, Jim Toth of TSN 1290 reports.

Shedding Stuart's contract will free up approximately $1.2 million in cap space for the Jets this season. The 33-year-old saw his role significantly reduced last year, as he appeared in only 42 games and averaged a mere 12:27 of ice time when he was in the lineup. The emergence of youngsters Josh Morrissey and Julian Melchiori made the veteran blueliner expendable in Winnipeg. If he can secure a new role for the 2017-18 campaign, it will likely be as a third-pairing defenseman at best.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Enjoys two-point night Tuesday

Stuart recorded a goal, an assist and a plus-3 rating during Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Blues.

Believe it or not, Stuart actually doubled his point total for the season during Tuesday night's contest. That alone should keep fantasy owners in most formats away, as the 32-year-old has always been known more for his defensive soundness than his offensive prowess.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Back in lineup

Stuart has played in four straight games due to injuries on the blue line.

Stuart has periodically been a healthy scratch this season, but with Toby Enstrom (lower body) and Tyler Myers (lower body) on injured reserve, the veteran has been pressed into action. The Minnesota native is averaging a mere 10:54 of ice time, but that number could increase if fellow defender Jacob Trouba is hit with a suspension for a hit in Sunday's matchup with Ottawa.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Slumping in return to lineup

Stuart has managed just one point in his last eight outings since returning to the Jets lineup.

After sitting out 19 straight contests as a healthy scratch, Stuart had been on the ice for the Jets' next eight matchups, largely due to injuries to Tyler Myers (upper body) and Ben Chiarot (illness). Once these two guys are cleared for action, Stuart will likely find himself watching from the press box yet again.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Likely healthy scratch Thursday

Stuart figures to be the odd man out on the blue line Thursday against the Oilers, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.

Stuart played in the Jets' previous five outings while Toby Enstrom was dealing with a family matter back in Sweden. With Enstrom back in the fold, the 32-year-old Stuart will once again be relegated to the press box, as he has been for much of the season. When in the lineup this year, the blueliner has averaged a mere 12:04 of ice time per night and has yet to record any points, with modest totals of eight PIM, 10 hits and 16 blocked shots not moving the fantasy needle.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Will be healthy scratch Tuesday

Stuart (upper body) could suit up against the Blackhawks, but will instead be a healthy scratch, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.

Stuart could find himself as the odd man out in Winnipeg following the end of Jacob Trouba's holdout. Additionally, a healthy Tyler Myers (lower body) will further add to the log jam once he is cleared to return. When in the lineup, Stuart has contributed zero points, three shots on goal and 11 blocked shots, so it should come as no surprise he will be watching from the press box.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Misses fifth consecutive game Tuesday

Stuart (upper body) remains inactive for Tuesday's matchup with the Stars, TSN 1290 Winnipeg reports.

Stuart will miss a fifth consecutive game as he continues to recover from an ailment sustained earlier this month. The blueliner participated in Sunday's morning skate so it seems likely that his return is not too far out. The 32-year-old -- tallying zero points over five games prior to his injury -- should be ignored in almost all fantasy formats even when healthy.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Return could arrive Tuesday

Stuart (upper body) could rejoin the lineup as soon as Tuesday against the Stars, Ted Wyman of the Winnipeg Sun reports.

Despite practicing with the team during Sunday's morning skate, he's not yet ready to join the lineup. Even when healthy, Stuart doesn't provide much of an offensive presence, tallying just three points over 64 games last season, so his return shouldn't be of much concern in fantasy circles.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Misses third consecutive game

Stuart (upper body) was scratched from Friday night's game against the Red Wings, Ted Wyman of the Winnipeg Sun reports.

This marks the third game in a row that Stuart has missed due to the injury, and the seventh game he's missed overall between injuries and scratches this season. From that standpoint and taking into account his 11:16 of average ice time, Stuart isn't worth rostering in most fantasy formats.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Might return Friday

Stuart (upper body) was ruled out against Washington on Thursday, but may be cleared for Friday's contest, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.

Stuart will sit out his sixth game of the year, this time due to injury rather than being a healthy scratch. When he has been in the lineup, the 32-year-old has registered three shots on goal, four hits, and 11 blocked shots. The blueliner's lack of offensive contributions give him minimal fantasy value unless you are in need of ancillary stats.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Ruled out Tuesday

Stuart is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, and he won't suit up Tuesday evening against the Capitals.

Having lacked an extra defenseman on the active roster with Tyler Myers (lower body) also ailing, the Jets reportedly summoned Julian Melchiori from the minors. Still, considering Stuart hasn't marked the scoresheet with a single point in five games, his absence isn't likely to impact more than a handful of fantasy owners.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Back in lineup Tuesday

Stuart will be back in the lineup against the Stars on Tuesday, the Winnipeg Sun reports.

Tuesday will be Stuart's second game of the year after he was a healthy scratch for the Jets' previous three contests. The 32-year-old will likely play alongside Ben Chiarot on the third defensive pairing. In his one appearance, Stuart was primarily used on the penalty kill; that'll likely be the case once more against Dallas. The Minnesota native's inclusion on the depth chart will push Paul Postma into the press box.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Garners assist in preseason contest

Stuart notched an assist and was plus-1 against the Wild on Thursday.

Stuart helped set up Kyle Connor for what would be the game-winning goal in Thursday's preseason matchup. The blueliner logged 18:52 in ice time, including 3:04 on the penalty kill, as the Jets snagged a 4-1 victory. The 32-year-old tallied just three points in 64 outings last season, so fantasy owners may want to consider other defensive options.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Winds up on IR

Stuart (upper body) has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to Feb. 13.

By moving Stuart to IR, the Jets were able to call up Matt Halischuk from AHL Manitoba. Back on Feb. 15, Jets coach Paul Maurice estimated that Stuart would miss 4-to-6 weeks of action.

  • Jets' Mark Stuart: Out 4-6 weeks

Coach Paul Maurice indicated Monday that Stuart will miss 4-to-6 weeks

While Stuart doesn't provide much on the offensive end, he generally makes a strong imprint on the defensive end (92 blocked shots, 137 hits in 55 games). In his absence, the Jets will need to shuffle the defensive pairings a bit, but they have plenty of options with seven other healthy defensemen on the roster.
