Beloved sideline reporter Craig Sager was supposed to cover his fifth straight Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this summer for NBC, but a third bone marrow transplant will get in the way. NBC announced on Thursday that Sager had returned to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, where he has received treatment for leukemia.

Sager continued to work for TNT this past season despite his cancer recurring, taking early-morning flights after playoff games back to Houston and flying to the next game after chemotherapy. He even covered an NBA Finals game for the first time in his career, as ESPN/ABC and TNT agreed to have him work Game 6 at Quicken Loans Arena. Unsurprisingly, the crowd gave him a standing ovation.

It's typical of Sager to not want to let cancer get in the way of him going to Rio to cover basketball. His health obviously should come first, though, so this is for the best.
