Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was arrested on suspicion of rape on Sunday morning, according to ESPN. Police in London were called to his house by a woman who said she was sexually assaulted by the player. Hudson-Odoi, 19, was reportedly questioned before being released on bail and is due to report back to the authorities in June.
An ambulance and police officers were called to his apartment in West London at 3:35 a.m., according to the report. The woman was reportedly "unwell" after the alleged incident.
"When emergency services attended, a woman reported that she was raped. She was taken to hospital. A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of rape. He was released from custody and bailed to return on a date in mid-June," a police spokesperson told ESPN.
Chelsea, as of Monday, had not publicly commented on the matter.
Hudson-Odoi earned his first appearance with the Blues back in 2017 and has eight goals in 53 games. He also earned his first England national team cap in 2019.
Hudson-Odoi was one of the first Premier League players to be diagnosed with the coronavirus after testing positive in March. The league announced on Monday that small group training can begin on Tuesday, and the league is aiming at a June restart.
