A violent, wild scene took place in South America soccer on Tuesday night. After the Copa Libertadores round of 16 second leg between Boca Juniors and Atletico Mineiro, there were clashes inside the stadium that involved both teams, club officials, security, police and more. Tear gas was used by security, one player even grab a fire extinguisher to potentially use as a weapon. No arrests were made.
Atletico advanced on penalty kicks after both legs finished 0-0, with Boca livid after having a goal in each game controversially disallowed due to VAR. There was nearly a brawl during the match as the referee went to the sideline to review the goal that as then disallowed for the Argentine side.

Now, it's a bit of blame game from both sides. Boca vice president and club legend Juan Roman Riquelme accused Atletico president Sergio Coelho of throwing bottles at Boca players, while the Brazilian side said it was Boca players trying to attack the club's director.
CONMEBOL, more than 12 hours after the incidents, have yet to comment on what unfolded.
As for Boca, according to Ole, the team spent hours at the police station to provide statements as to what transpired as they aim to return to Buenos Aires on Wednesday.
