Two teams seemingly headed in opposite directions face off Monday when Everton hosts Burnley in an English Premier League match. Everton has scored seven goals in its first three matches (2-1-0), with striker Dominic Calver-Lewin posting one in each game. Burnley (0-2-1) has scored just twice overall and looks like it could be fighting to avoid relegation again this season. It finished 17th, one place above the drop zone last season, while Everton was 10th and is looking for more under new manager Rafa Benitez, former boss at rival Liverpool.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET in Liverpool, England. Caesars Sportsbook lists Everton as the -150 favorite (risk $150 to win $100) in its latest Everton vs. Burnley odds, with Burnley the +475 underdog and a draw priced at +260. The over-under for total goals scored is set at 2.5. Why you should back Everton

The Toffees are the more talented team, with the likes of Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Demarai Gray all capable of causing problems for Burnley's back line. Gray has two goals, while Richarlison has one and set up another in the first three matches. The seven goals scored equals the number Everton had in its final 10 games last season. Salomon Rondon is expected to make his debut with the team and could spell Calvert-Lewin if the star striker is slowed down.

Calvert-Lewin is expected to be fit after an injury forced him to withdraw from the England squad. He had a team-high 16 goals last season. The Toffees also should see captain Seamus Coleman return to a strong back line that protects goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Former Merseyside rival Benitez is working hard to win over the fans after a negative reaction to his appointment, and another win would help.

Why you should back Burnley

Burnley has one point from a possible nine, but it won 2-1 at Goodison Park last season. The Clarets have won two of the last four road games against Everton. They are 4-1-3 in the last eight meetings and 6-7-1 in 14 matches since Burnley joined the top flight in 2009. The Clarets also are 2-1-0 in their last three Monday road matches, keeping a clean sheet in all three, and took 21 points from their 19 away games last season.

Manager Sean Dyche has done well to keep the team in the top flight with the talent he has to work with. Burnley didn't do a lot to improve after its 17th-place finish, but it should have a sense of urgency. It needs to start gaining points after nearly being relegated in 2020-21, especially with Arsenal and Leicester City coming up. The Clarets don't score a lot, posting just 33 goals last season (third-fewest in the EPL), but Chris Wood scored 12 and has one this season.
