La Liga title race: Atletico get late Suarez winner to stay ahead of Real Madrid; Barcelona eliminated
The season will come down to the final day with two teams alive
The title race in La Liga featured three teams on Sunday morning. And as night fell on the Iberian Peninsula, only two teams remain in contention. Atletico Madrid came from behind to beat Osasuna, 2-1, on Sunday to enter the final matchday with a two-point lead atop the table. Real Madrid beat Athletic Club 1-0 to stay two points behind. Barcelona, meanwhile, crashed out of the race with a 2-1 loss at home to Celta Vigo.
That means it will be Real and Atleti who will play their 38th match of the season with the champion being decided. Real Madrid host Villarreal next Sunday while Atleti take on relegation-threatened Valladolid.
Atletico went down 1-0 to Osasuna in the 75th minute in a game they dominated, but fortunately for Los Colchoneros, they got the equalizer from Renan Lodi in the 82nd minute and the winner from Luis Suarez in the 88th. Here's the winning goal:
