WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Judgment Day puts issues aside for main event win over Zayn, Owens and Rollins

Since Damian Priest won the men's Money in the Bank ladder match, it has been clear that cracks have started to form in the foundation of Judgment Day. Those issues seemed ready to boil over during Raw on Monday night, but Rhea Ripley was able to force Priest and Finn Balor back onto the same page -- at least for one more night.

Balor still blames Priest for costing him his world heavyweight championship match with Seth Rollins, a claim Balor made again to kick off the show. Ripley was able to settle the tension between the two men and the group again functioned as a unit for the remainder of Raw, executing attacks and coming out on top in a six-man tag team main event to close the show.

CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.

Judgment Day put issues aside for main event victory

Finn Balor opened the show to say he felt his issues with Damian Priest had not been settled and the reason was Damian Priest. Balor was quickly interrupted by Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio. As Balor tried to continue his rant, Ripley pulled the microphone away from his face and said they would not be discussing their issues in public. Judgment Day were shown later, with Ripley trying to calm down the tensions between Balor and Priest, who insisted he never intended to cash in at Money in the Bank or cost Balor his match. Balor agreed that they were cool as long as he got the first crack at Rollins.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were being interviewed and claiming to be ready to face whoever stepped up to challenge for their undisputed tag team titles when they were interrupted by Ripley and Mysterio. Ripley said Judgment Day would take the titles off of Owens and Zayn whenever they felt like it. The group then attacked Seth Rollins ahead of his planned rematch with Mysterio, only for Owens and Zayn to run in for the save and set up the night's main event.

Judgment Day def. Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn via pinfall after Balor hit Zayn with the Coup de Grace. Rollins hit a superkick late in the match that sent Priest back into Balor, knocking Balor from the ring apron. Balor then demanded Priest tag him in, which Priest reluctantly did. Zayn nearly had the match won but Ripley interfered from ringside before he could hit a Helluva Kick, which allowed Priest to hit Zayn with South of Heaven and Balor to hit the Coup de Grace for the win. After the match, Balor and Priest stood face-to-face before smiling and sharing a handshake.

There's natural intrigue when a wrestling group begins to show fractures in their foundation. It doesn't really help the story that The Bloodline has been doing the same thing for a long time and at a higher level, but the simmering jealousy of Balor is helping keep the story afloat. We're likely due for more weeks of teases that Balor and Priest will eventually come to blows before anything really happens, but it'll be fun to watch that all play out with Ripley and Mysterio as key players on the ride. Grade: B

What else happened on WWE Raw?

  • Drew McIntyre & Matt Riddle def. Imperium (Giovanni Vinci & Ludwig Kaiser) via pinfall after McIntyre hit Vinci with a Claymore. Gunther attempted to interfere late but McIntyre launched him into a Riddle knee before re-entering the ring to hit the match-finishing Claymore.
  • Judgment Day attacked Seth Rollins ahead of Rollins' match with Dominik Mysterio. With the group seemingly back on the same page, the attack was halted after Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn ran in for the save.
  • Ricochet and Logan Paul came face-to-face after Ricochet made it clear he wanted a match with Paul. Paul refused, saying Ricochet was trying to use him to go viral but he wasn't here for that. This led Ricochet to flip out of the ring, landing in front of Paul for a staredown. As Paul left, he turned and tried to sucker punch Ricochet, but Ricochet ducked and used the ring apron to put Paul down with a sliced bread no. 2.
  • Zoey Stark def. Becky Lynch via pinfall with a roll-up. Lynch countered Z-360 and chose to hit Trish Stratus, who was ringside, with a kick through the ropes, turning her back on Stark and allowing for the roll-up victory.
  • The Viking Raiders interrupted Maxxine Dupri's Alpha Academy graduation ceremony. Eric and Ivar came down the entrance ramp, drawing attention and allowing Valhalla to blindside Dupri from behind and steal her Alpha Academy jacket.
  • Cody Rhodes threw down a SummerSlam challenge to Brock Lesnar. Rhodes explained that his reasoning isn't personal, it's because whoever wins their potential rubber match would be "next in line" for a title shot.
  • The Miz def. Tommaso Ciampa via pinfall after interference from Bronson Reed. Ciampa seemingly had the no disqualification bout won after putting Miz through a table, but Reed ran in to give the assist.
  • Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville def. Katana Chance & Kayden Carter via pinfall when Green pinned Chance with a roll-up. Deville helped Green use the ropes on the cheap pin.
