ROSTER MOVES & TRANSACTIONS

Angels: Designated UTIL Efren Navarro for assignment, the team announced. The move clears a 40-man roster spot for RHP Al Alburquerque.

Dodgers: Signed RHP Joe Blanton to a one-year contract worth $4 million.

Pirates: Signed C Chris Stewart to a two-year contract with a club option, the club announced ... Claimed RHP A.J. Schugel off waivers from the Mariners, the team announced. RHP Yoervis Medina was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Rangers: Signed OF Jordan Danks to a minor league contract. (Jon Heyman)

Yankees: Signed RHP Nathan Eovaldi to a one-year contract, avoiding arbitration, the team announced. The deal is worth $5.6 million. (ESPN New York)

NEWS & RUMORS

OF Yoenis Cespedes: The Nationals have interest in signing Cespedes, but only if his asking price comes down (Fox Sports) ... The Braves are open to signing Cespedes to a short-term deal (Atlanta Journal Constitution) ... The Marlins are not interested in signing Cespedes, team president David Samson said. (USA Today)

MLB: The Garber vs. Office of the Commissioner of Baseball lawsuit was settled out of court. That means improvements are coming to MLB.tv.

Brewers: C Jonathan Lucroy suggested a trade may be the best thing for him and the team. "I'm not going to sit here and say we're going to compete for the playoffs this year," he said. "It's not guaranteed that I'm going to win if I am traded. But I'm going to be a 30-year-old catcher (in June). I can't put numbers on how much longer I'm going to play, but as players we want to win. I don't care about the money; I just want to win. That's the bottom line." (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)

Marlins: The fences are currently being lowered at Marlins Park.

Rangers: MLB is investigating RHP Yu Darvish in connection to a gambling ring run by his brother. Darvish says he was not involved in any way.

Reds: Will induct Pete Rose into the Reds Hall of Fame. His No. 14 will be retired as well.

Rockies: GM Jeff Bridich said the club is unlikely to trade from its outfield surplus following the Gerardo Parra signing. "I know it's popular to expect a trade, but it's tough to put odds on it right now. The last thing I want to do is apologize for bringing more talent into this organization," he said. (Denver Post)
