I spent Saturday afternoon writing about Adreian Payne and his development and why he's the perfect example of a player who actually gets better with each year of college. So, if you read me over the weekend, you already know how I feel about Michigan State's star big, and, if you watched him over the weekend, you already understand why Payne is the CBSSports.com National Player of the Week.
He was terrific in a win over Texas.
He was also terrific against North Florida earlier in the week.
In the two games that pushed Michigan State's record to 10-1, Payne was 17-of-24 from the field, 3-of-6 from 3-point range and 15-of-16 from the free throw line. He averaged 26.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in those victories, and he's now shooting 45.7 percent from beyond the arc this season, which is amazing considering the 6-foot-10 senior only attempted a total of three 3-point attempts through his first two years at Michigan State.
In other words, like I wrote Saturday, Payne has developed nicely.
He could lead MSU to its first Final Four since 2010 in his fourth year of college.
