Semi Ojeleye had a long list of offers throughout his recruitment, but when Duke offered the talented forward in June, everything changed. The Blue Devils looked like they moved into pole position for Ojeleye’s services.
Three months later, Ojeleye has committed to Duke.
Ojeleye, a 6-foot-7 small forward from Ottawa (Kan.), chose the Blue Devils over Oregon, Indiana and Stanford. He made his decision shortly after Mike Krzyzewski conducted an in-home visit with Ojeleye.
Ranked No. 32 in the class of 2013, Ojeleye is a very difficult matchup for most opponents. He has the ability to score around the rim but is also comfortable taking 3-pointers from the perimeter. Ojeleye improved his off-the-dribble game, and was able to create his own shot consistently during the spring and summer. At the Peach Jam in July, Ojeleye attempted the third-most free-throw attempts of anyone in the tournament, and also averaged 17.6 points per game.
He will add to a deep stable of talented forwards on the Duke roster. Because he can score in different ways, Ojeleye will certainly be an asset in the Blue Devils’ system. Next fall, he will combine with Amile Jefferson, Alex Murphy, Rodney Hood and others in a versatile frontcourt.
Ojeleye is Duke’s second commitment in the 2013 class, joining No. 31-ranked Matt Jones. The news was first reported by Scout.com.
