The San Diego Toreros haven't won a contest against the San Francisco Dons since Feb. 28 of 2019, but they'll be looking to end the drought Saturday. San Diego and San Francisco will face off in a West Coast battle at 5 p.m. ET at Jenny Craig Pavilion. Given that these two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
The Toreros ended up a good deal behind the Saint Mary's Gaels when they played on Thursday, losing 60-46. Guard Joey Calcaterra just could not get things rolling his way, finishing with only four points on 2-for-10 shooting in his 27 minutes on the court.
Meanwhile, the matchup between San Francisco and the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Thursday was not particularly close, with San Francisco falling 89-73. Four players on San Francisco scored in the double digits: guard Khalil Shabazz (17), guard Jamaree Bouyea (14), forward Yauhen Massalski (14), and guard Julian Rishwain (13).
San Diego is the clear underdog, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. Now might not be the best time to take the Toreros against the spread since they've let down bettors for the past two consecutive games.
