What to Know

The Iowa Hawkeyes are 6-0 against the Minnesota Golden Gophers since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success Saturday. The Hawkeyes and Minnesota will face off in a Big Ten battle at 3:30 p.m. ET at Kinnick Stadium. Both teams have allowed few points on average (Iowa 15.67, the Golden Gophers 18.33), so any points scored will be well earned.

Iowa didn't have too much breathing room in their game with the Northwestern Wildcats last week, but they still walked away with a 17-12 victory. Among those leading the charge for Iowa was RB Tyler Goodson, who rushed for one TD and 141 yards on 21 carries. Goodson's performance made up for a slower contest against the Wisconsin Badgers two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Minnesota came up short against the Illinois Fighting Illini last week, falling 14-6. If the result catches you off guard, it should: the Golden Gophers were far and away the favorite. QB Tanner Morgan had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: despite one touchdown, he threw two interceptions with only 180 yards passing.

The Hawkeyes are now 7-2 while Minnesota sits at 6-3. Two offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Iowa is stumbling into the matchup with the 200th fewest yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 299.2 on average. The Golden Gophers have experienced some struggles of their own as they are 209th worst in the nation in passing yards per game, with only 153.6 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
