With seemingly half of college football having debuted an alternate uniform over the past 12 months, it takes something special at this point to really perk up the uniform-watchin' eyebrows.

But Georgia Southern's uniforms for their Oct. 13 "Military Appreciation Day" do the trick. A brief description of the uniforms, which were presented to the team by the Georgia National Guard on Wednesday:

The jerseys worn by the Eagles for the 2012 Military Appreciation Day will all have “Always Ready, Always There” on the backs, customized with each player’s name embroidered on the front nameplate. Players have the option of wearing specific patches to represent any family members or friends who have served or are currently serving in the military. More than 100 different patches for various battalions, commands, units, ships, squadrons and submarines will be worn on October 13th.

There's plenty more shots where those came from. The Eagles won't be the first team to go the "digital camouflage" route or move the players' names to jersey-front nameplates. But that doesn't mean the novelty has worn off. This is some seriously cool stuff, made all the cooler by the direct involvement from the National Guard and, in this case, the sweet-looking navy-with-red-and-gold-accents color palette.

It won't be easy to tune into the Eagles' Oct. 13 matchup with Wofford. But with these beauties on the field, we might make an effort, anyway.
