- Arkansas plans to let RB Knile Davis return to full-speed practice soon, but it held him out of Saturday's scrimmage. Saturday was the one-year anniversary of Davis fracturing his ankle in last year's fall camp.
- Texas A&M QB trio lit up the Aggies defense in Saturday's open practice. The effectiveness of QBs Matt Joeckel, Jameill Showers and Johnny Manziel might make picking a starter tougher for coach Kevin Sumlin.
- After struggling in 2011, the Vols showed some progress in the run game Saturday in their first scrimmage. Junior RB Rajion Neal had 134 yards on nine carries.
- The CB battle at Florida is one of the most intense position competitions in camp. That's a good thing for the Gators. They have three proven starters and another, sophomore Loucheiz Purifoy, who is pushing for playing time.
- It hasn't received the attention that the dismissal of LSU DB Tyrann Mathieu did, but Alabama also lost two contributing players over the weekend in CB Travell Dixon (left team) and WR Chris Black (injury).
