Wieland signed a minor-league contract with the Athletics on Thursday.
We have to go all the way back to 2016 for the last big-league action for Wieland, who turns 33 years old this weekend. He pitched in Japan and an independent ball for a few years before appearing in eight games in the minors with the Rays in 2022.
