Collberg was placed on unconditional waivers by the Islanders on Friday.
Collberg saw action in just 42 games for AHL Bridgeport this year. In those contests, the winger tallied a mere three goals and seven assists. His release could mark the end of what was expected to be a solid NHL career after being selected in the second round of the 2012 NHL Draft. The 22-year-old was acquired by the Islanders in exchange for Thomas Vanek, a trade that continues to look worse with each passing NHL season.
