The Dodgers are interested in Skip Schumaker, and the Cardinals are willing to deal him, according to CBSSports.com’s Danny Knobler.
While the majority of Schumaker’s playing time came at second base last year, he was also used in the outfield. The 32-year-old hit .276/.339/.368 in 304 plate appearances last season. He’s slated to make $1.5 million next season.
Schumaker could be used in a platoon with incumbent second baseman Mark Ellis. Ellis only hit .228/.313/.299 against righties last year but was much better against lefties. Schumaker has been much better against righties over his career, hitting .305/.359/.403.
