It is a curious time we live in -- and this video gives us yet another example.

As we approach 2013, it's impossible to imagine the Giants and Tigers following up their World Series appearance with a trip to a game show. Yet, because it is 2012, we can revisit a time when such a thing was possible -- 1980.

After the Phillies beat the Royals four games to two, the two sides matched up in a best-of-five series with Richard Dawson on the Family Feud. Here is Game 4, where just like in the regular World Series, the Royals jumped out to an early lead and cruised to victory to tie the series at two games each.

Unfortunately, we are left with this tie, not knowing the final outcome. In the World Series, the Phillies won the next two games to claim their first World Series title in franchise history. The Wikipedia entry for the 1980 World Series claims the Phillies won the fifth game, but there is no citation, so in my mind the question is still not answered.

Even without a definitive answer as to which team was better on the Feud, we do know a couple of things -- Willie Wilson was as smooth off the field as he was in center field, Mike Schmidt was better at baseball than the Feud (an 0-for-3 on the day), the fashion of 1980 is more '70s than '80s and John Wathan was a sandbagging SOB. The Royals' utility man (and future manager) looked helpless in the first part of the show, hitting just one of the six questions he was asked, but dominated Fast Money. My only disappointment is that George Brett isn't involved, but he was likely indisposed.
