  • Rob Wooten: Opts to retire

Wooten announced on his personal Twitter account Saturday that he will retire from baseball.

Wooten spent the majority of his career in the minors, pitching last season at the Double-A and Triple-A levels for the Reds, but he did crack the Brewers' active roster for parts of three different seasons from 2013-15. He finished his career with a 5.03 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP and 53 strikeouts over 68 innings in 71 appearances at the MLB level.

  • Braves' Rob Wooten: Struggles in spring training

Wooten went 0-1 with a 7.36 ERA and 2.18 WHIP through 3.2 innings this spring.

After managing to spend only six (highly unsuccessful) innings in the big leagues last year, Woten didn't impress this spring. Although Atlanta's looking for an answer at closer, Wooten's not even on the 40-man roster and has never posted a WHIP lower than 1.27 in the big leagues.

  • Braves' Rob Wooten: Inks minors contact with Braves

Wooten signed a minor league contract with the Braves on Friday, Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports.

Wooten has spent the entirety of his career thus far in the Brewers organization, but it appears he'll finally see a change of scenery. He's cracked the major league roster in each of the past three seasons, and had mixed results. He will now join the Braves organization and await another shot in the majors.
