NASCAR at Talladega is one of the most difficult Cup Series races to predict due to the high-variance nature of the track. Sunday's 2023 Talladega NASCAR race features every driver outside of 10-1 in the 2023 GEICO 500 odds, making it challenging to form a winning NASCAR DFS strategy. Defending Cup Series champion Joey Logano is a three-time Talladega winner coming off a runner-up finish at Martinsville last weekend. Should you include him in your NASCAR DFS lineups and 2023 GEICO 500 DFS strategy?

Logano also won in Atlanta earlier this season, which is similar to a superspeedway track. He could be one of the popular selections on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel. Before locking in any NASCAR DFS picks for NASCAR at Talladega 2023, be sure to check out the optimal NASCAR at Talladega DFS strategy and advice from SportsLine's Mike McClure

McClure has won over $2 million in his career as a daily Fantasy pro, and his NASCAR DFS driver pool, projections and advice can help you score a big win on Sunday.

McClure's model is off to a red-hot start this season, already nailing Martin Truex Jr.'s Clash win (20-1), Joey Logano's Duel win (8-1), Kyle Busch's Fontana victory (10-1), and Kyle Larson's win at Martinsville (6-1). In Austin, it listed Tyler Reddick as one of its best values and he went on to win for a 10-1 payout. It also impressively nailed five of Kyle Larson's wins during his historic season in 2021. All told, the model has nailed a whopping 10 winners since 2021. Anyone who followed its lead on those NASCAR picks saw huge returns.

Now, he's turned his attention to Sunday's 2023 GEICO 500 at Talladega. He's only sharing his picks and NASCAR DFS driver pool here.

Top 2023 GEICO 500 NASCAR DFS picks

For NASCAR at Talladega, McClure is high on Ross Chastain, who is in second place in the Cup Series standings. He is still seeking his first win of the season, but that has not stopped him from being a consistent contender. Chastain has a trio of top-four finishes under his belt, including a third-place run at Richmond Raceway.

He was outstanding at this track last season, winning the spring race in a last-second thriller before finishing fourth in the fall edition. Chastain led 36 laps in the fall, giving him confidence heading into this year's spring race. While he might be one of the most expensive drivers in the field this week, his consistency this season along with his Talladega success last year makes him a must-back option, according to McClure.

Part of McClure's optimal NASCAR DFS strategy also includes rostering Ryan Blaney, who is trying to snap a 55-race winless streak but has won two of his last seven races on this track. He also finished as the runner-up in the most recent Talladega race and has three straight top-10 finishes on drafting tracks. Talladega is generally correlated with high variance, but Blaney has been a consistent force.

He has led laps in eight of the last nine Talladega races and picked up a win in the 2021 Daytona regular season finale. Blaney has the best average finishing position (10.1) on superspeedway tracks since the start of the 2020 season. He has had the second-most top-fives and has the third-most laps led during that span. See which other drivers to roster here.
