Through 3 Quarters

Only one more quarter stands between the Utah Jazz and the win they were favored to collect going into this night. Three quarters in and their offense has really been able to impose its will, dominating the New York Knicks 85-73.

Utah has been relying on point guard Jordan Clarkson, who has 22 points and four assists along with four boards, and shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, who has 23 points and five assists in addition to four rebounds. Small forward R.J. Barrett (19 points) and shooting guard Evan Fournier (17 points) have been the top scorers for New York. Evan Fournier does need to be careful, however, as he is in foul trouble with four.

the Knicks have lost 88% of the time when they were down heading into the fourth quarter this year, so this one seems just about wrapped up

What to Know

The Utah Jazz have enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they must head out on the road. They will square off against the New York Knicks at 7:30 p.m. ET Sunday at Madison Square Garden. Utah won't have the home-court advantage, but they do enjoy a 3.5-point advantage in the spread.

The Jazz took their matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers this past Friday by a conclusive 121-92 score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 71-34. The top scorers for Utah were point guard Jared Butler (21 points), point guard Jordan Clarkson (20 points), and center Rudy Gobert (19 points). Butler hadn't helped his team much against the Chicago Bulls this past Wednesday, so this was a nice turnaround for him. Jared Butler's points were the most he has had all season.

Meanwhile, things were close when New York and the Washington Wizards clashed this past Friday, but New York ultimately edged out the opposition 100-97. Small forward R.J. Barrett (18 points) and power forward Julius Randle (18 points) were the top scorers for New York.

The Jazz are expected to win this handily, but they should have beaten the Houston Rockets Jan. 19 easily too and instead slipped up with a 116-111. In other words, don't count the Knicks out just yet.
