There were 38 total trades made during the 2017 NFL Draft. One hundred and twenty-six picks changed hands in those deals, but only two players wound up changing teams. Running back Kapri Bibbs was sent from the Broncos to the 49ers and tight end James O'Shaughnessy was sent from the Chiefs to the Patriots

There was almost a third, though, according to a report from ESPN. The Green Bay Packers were close to a deal that would have sent backup quarterback Brett Hundley packing during Day 2 of the draft.

"The Packers dangled their backup quarterback on the trade market and came close to making a deal on the second day of the draft," Rob Demovsky wrote. "Now it appears they'll likely hang on to him for another year, but expect them to move him before he enters the final year of his contract in 2018. They believe they can get much more in return than the fifth-round pick they invested in him in 2015."

Hundley, a former three-year starter at UCLA, was drafted by the Packers as a developmental prospect behind Aaron Rodgers. He's thrown 10 passes in two seasons, completing only two, for 17 yards and an interception. He did finish the 2015 preseason as the NFL's highest-rated passer (129.6 quarterback rating), but he threw only seven passes during the 2016 preseason and the aforementioned 10 during the 2016 regular season. There's not all that much of a track record to justify a team surrendering a pick in an earlier round than the one Green Bay drafted him with.

Then again, teams often get desperate when it comes to quarterbacks. There's a reason the Bengals were reportedly seeking at least a first-rounder in exchange for their own fifth-round backup QB. They didn't wind up getting it and hung onto AJ McCarron instead, just like the Packers seem ready to hang onto Hundley until this time next year.
